Historical Background

The Hymn, entitled "Alay ng Puso", was first sung during the inaugural ceremonies on Feb 14, 1975 by more than a hundred public school children. Since then, the PHC Hymn was sung only on special occasions, particulary during the PHC's 20th and 25th Anniversary Programs. Upon the suggestion of some PHC founding members, the present management headed by Director Ludgerio D. Torres decided to immortalize "Alay ng Puso" by having it recorded on compact disc (CD).Every PHC employee should know the hymn by heart and henceforth, it will be sung at the weekly flag ceremony and official functions of the Philippine Heart Center.
Composer - FELIPE PADILLA DE LEON
Felipe De Leon is a composer, conductor and scholar. His notable musical compositions are sonatas, marches and concertos. He is the recipient of various awards and distinctions: Republic Cultural Heritage Award, Rizal Pro-Partia Award, Presidential Award of Merit, Patnubay ng Kalinangan Award and 1997 National Artist for Music.De Leon is best known for translating the Philippine National Anthem from the original Spanish lyrics to Tagalog in the early 1900s. among his commissioned works are Bagong Lipunan, Bagong Silang and Alay ng Puso (PHC Hymn).
Musical Arranger - ERIC ANTONIO
Eric Antonio is an arranger, film scorer, jingle maker, musical director, album producer, voice talent and entertainer. He has dabbled in almost all genres of music making. Eric is a member of the all-male singing group, The TUX.
He has worked with and produced music for artists like Regine Velasquez, Janno Gibbs, Pops Fernandez, Ariel Rivera, Calvin Millado, The TUX, Franco Laurel, Roeder, Monique Wilson, among others.
Eric was musical director for shows like the Regine Velasquez Christmas Specials for GMA 7, "Sa Linggo Na Po Sila", "The Sharon Cuneta Show", and "Showbiz Linggo." He also produced the theme song for the Sunday showbiz talk show, "The Buzz", on ABS-CBN.
